Mesa Airlines has been operating for 44 years and delivering passengers to destinations domestically and internationally. Mesa is a known regional carrier, flying across the United States, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, and the Bahamas. When Mesa Airlines partnered with United Airlines in December 2022, the alliance allowed them to expand their operations to 48 countries all over the world.
Mesa Airlines has had a record of turbulence-related incidents and passenger injuries over the past decade.
In June 2015, five passengers were injured during a violently turbulent flight to Iowa. According to the NTSB, the accident was due to an “inadvertent encounter with turbulence while deviating around an area of known convective activity.” The plane landed safely at its destination, and three passengers were rushed to the hospital after suffering a dislocated shoulder and chipped bone. Reports say that one passenger was thrown against the ceiling while inside the lavatory, and two passengers were thrown out of their seats. A passenger also acquired serious injuries during another turbulent flight to Houston from New York in May 2023.
The airline company may be liable for injuries arising from turbulence if there was negligence on the part of the airline crew or if they failed to implement cautionary measures for passenger safety. If you are ever injured from a turbulent flight, Sean M. Cleary and his team can evaluate your case to see if you have a strong claim and may be eligible for damage compensation.
