Porter Airlines is the third biggest Canada-based airline company. Since it started operating in 2006, it has brought travelers to and from 32 destinations across Canada and the United States with its fleet of 72 aircraft.
The airline has a record of being involved in numerous safety incidents and turbulent flights. On April 20, 2023, the crew shut down the plane’s engine shortly after takeoff when they noticed the right propeller rotating at a higher speed than it should be. The aircraft was already 8000 feet in the air when they decided to shut down the engine and return to the airport of origin. The plane landed safely back in Boston 35 minutes later.
A flight from Newark, New Jersey, experienced severe turbulence during liftoff. The crew temporarily lost control of the plane, and a passenger hit their head on the overhead bin. Fortunately, they regained control of the aircraft and were able to continue the flight.
The safety record of Porter Airlines is far from outstanding. Those incidents could have resulted in far more severe consequences if they had worsened. Nonetheless, passengers injured during a flight incident or accident can receive compensation for injuries and damages. Get in touch with the Law Offices of Sean M.
